Nine police officers of Bangladesh Police have been sent on mandatory retirement as they have completed 25 years of service. This was announced on Monday (15 September) in a government notification signed by Nasimul Gani, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The officers sent on retirement include K.M. Azizul Islam of APBN Police, Md. Abdur Rashid of CID, Md. Jamal Uddin Mir of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Development Division, Akbar Ali Khan of SARDA Police, and Md. Sirajul Haq Sheikh of Gaibandha In-Service Training Center.
Additionally, Mir Zahedul Haq Rony of MRT Police, Md. Asikuzzaman of 5 APBN, Azizur Rahman of Cox’s Bazar Chokoria Circle Office, and Md. Aslam Hossain of Jhenaidah In-Service Training Center have also been retired.
The notification stated that, according to Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018, officers completing 25 years of service are retired in the public interest. All retirement benefits will be provided to these officers in accordance with the law.
The government order specified that this mandatory retirement will take immediate effect and be enforced without delay.
