US President Donald Trump has assured that Israel will not carry out further attacks on Qatar. The assurance came after last week’s Israeli strike in Doha drew widespread international criticism. The news was reported by Anadolu Agency.
Speaking to journalists at the Oval Office, Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would not strike Qatar again. Describing Qatar as a “good ally,” Trump added that Netanyahu might take other steps against Hamas leaders, but not by attacking Qatar.
Earlier, US media outlet Axios claimed that Netanyahu had personally informed Trump before launching the strike on Qatar. However, Trump dismissed the report, saying he learned about the incident at the same time as everyone else. The White House later clarified that US military officials notified the administration only after the missile strike, leaving Trump with no chance to object beforehand.
Meanwhile, at an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, Muslim world leaders strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Qatar. They warned that such aggression poses a grave threat to regional stability.
The leaders at the summit also called for united resistance against Israel, expressing solidarity with Qatar and urging collective action to safeguard peace and security in the Middle East.
