Under the influence of an active southwest monsoon, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in six divisions, including Dhaka. From 9:00 AM on Sunday (14 September) over the next 72 hours, parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience 44–88 mm of rainfall in 24 hours, with some areas receiving even more.
According to the warning, very heavy rainfall could trigger landslides in the hilly regions of Chattogram. Temporary waterlogging may also occur in parts of Dhaka and Chattogram cities.
Meanwhile, light rain has been falling in the capital since midnight on Saturday. Although no major waterlogging was reported, traffic slowed significantly, leading to long tailbacks in areas such as Uttara, Khilkhet, Banani, Malibagh, and Bijoy Sarani. Office-goers faced severe disruptions, failing to reach their workplaces on time.
