Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul has announced his candidacy for the upcoming board election, confirming he will contest for a director’s post. Just three months ago, Bulbul had taken charge as interim president with no long-term plans, but he now says he wants to serve the country’s cricket for a longer period.
During his visit to the Sylhet District Stadium on Tuesday, Bulbul spoke to reporters and said: “Insha’Allah, we will hold the election in the first week of October. This is not a presidential election, but one for the directors. My goal is to ensure a proper election and to be part of the board through it.”
The BCB board of directors’ election is expected to be held on October 4. Having worked for a long time with the ICC, Bulbul joined Bangladesh cricket to contribute with his international experience. Though he initially took up the post on a temporary basis, his perspective changed after working a few months within the board.
On August 28, Bulbul had hinted at his willingness to continue in BCB. With his official declaration now, the speculation around his participation in the election has come true.
