In coordinated overnight operations, Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) forcibly repatriated 31 Bangladeshi nationals across northern borders during torrential rains, with 23 individuals pushed through Panchagarh’s Borobari border and 8 through Thakurgaon’s Fakirganj crossing.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troops intercepted 18 rain-soaked detainees near Harivasa Bazar at dawn, with five more apprehended in Jotbahdai. The group – comprising 9 men, 13 women and a child – claimed residency across four districts (Jashore, Satkhira, Narail, Lalmonirhat).
“These individuals reported being detained in Mumbai on August 2 before being transported via air and road to the border,” revealed Lt Col Sheikh Md Badruddoza of 56 BGB Battalion. Panchagarh police confirmed family reunification procedures after identity verification.
Separately, BGB detained eight citizens (1 man, 5 women, 2 children) near border pillar 342. Initial investigations revealed they had originally crossed into India years earlier through human traffickers seeking employment before being arrested in Mumbai.
