The government has promoted seven police officers of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) rank to Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP). The promotion order was issued on Monday by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, signed by Deputy Secretary Md. Mahbubur Rahman.
The officers promoted to Additional IGP include:
Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, DIG of APBN (Armed Police Battalion)
G.M. Azizur Rahman, DIG of SB (Special Branch)
Md. Sarwar, Additional Police Commissioner (DIG) of DMP (Dhaka Metropolitan Police)
Md. Mostafa Kamal, DIG of Armed Police Battalion
Kazi Md. Fazlul Karim, DIG of Police Headquarters
Md. Rezaul Karim, DIG of Highway Police
Md. Ahsan Habib Palash, DIG of Chattogram Range
The notification stated that the promotions were granted against seven newly created supernumerary posts, following all necessary formalities as per the Ministry of Public Administration and the Finance Division’s expenditure management guidelines. These posts will automatically cease to exist if vacated due to retirement, removal, or any other reason, with a one-year validity period from the date of creation. The promoted officers will continue serving in their current positions while assuming the new rank. The order takes immediate effect in the public interest.
