4 to die for drug trafficking in Gopalganj

A local court today sentenced four people to death in a case filed over trafficking drugs in Gopalganj. District Additional Sessions Judge Md Abbas Uddin handed down the verdict on Sunday afternoon.

The convicts are – Batul alias Robiul, son of Osman Sheikh of Bedgram area of ​​Gopalganj Sadar Upazila, Sujon Sheikh, son of Salam Sheikh, Rafique Mridha, son of Harun Mridha and Zakir Shikder, son of Quader Shikder of Raghunathpur Charpara area. Rafique and Zakir are absconding among the convicts.

Shahiduzzaman Khan, APP of the court, said that on July 10, 2011, the DB police arrested Sona Begum and Jirullah along with 30 bottles of Phensedyl from ​​Gopalganj police station. Later, according to their information, four others were arrested along with 497 bottles of Phensedyl.

District DB Police SI Shahadat Hossain filed a case under Narcotics Control Act at Sadar police station. Later a charge sheet was given against them in the court. Meanwhile, Jirullah was acquitted of the case as he died.
