Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on the youth to shoulder the responsibility of rebuilding the country. He said that if the youth make collective efforts and play a responsible role, no one can hinder the country’s progress.
He made the call at the inauguration of the three-month-long ‘Nationwide Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026’ at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Saturday (September 12) morning.
The Prime Minister said that the world has seen the capacity for change that the youth showed on August 5, 2024. Now, those youth must come forward to rebuild the country. She said that maximum efforts will be made to control dengue in the next three months. Although 100% success is not possible, it is possible to achieve major progress through collective efforts.
Emphasizing citizen awareness in dengue control, Tarique Rahman urged people to spend at least one hour every week cleaning their homes and yards. His goal is to build a ‘clean family, clean country, Bangladesh for all’.
The cleanliness drive, which started on September 12, will continue till December 12. The program will be conducted by involving local administrations, voluntary organizations and students in all metropolitan, divisional, district and upazila levels of the country including Dhaka. The drive will be coordinated by the city corporation in the metropolis, the deputy commissioner in the district and the upazila executive officers in the upazilas.
Local Government Minister Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Information and Broadcasting Minister Andaliv Rahman Partha, along with state ministers, secretaries of the relevant ministries and the administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation, spoke at the event.
