
The dengue outbreak in the country is increasing again. In the last 24 hours, 5 more people have died due to dengue.
At the same time, 839 people have been newly admitted to various hospitals in the country. This is the highest record of patient admissions in a single day this year.
Previously, on August 16, a maximum of 805 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital in one day.
The regular dengue bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday (August 23) said that 839 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in the next 24 hours from 8 am on Saturday. With this, the number of patients admitted to hospitals due to dengue this year has increased to 28,929.
According to the Department of Health, 82 people have died of dengue so far this year. Of these, 28 died in August alone. 36 died in July, 13 in June, one in May, and two each in January and February.
In the last 24 hours, 796 people have recovered and been discharged from the hospital. With this, 26,897 people have returned home after recovering from dengue this year.
Dhaka division is leading in terms of new patient admissions. In the last 24 hours, 287 people have been admitted to hospitals in this division. In addition, 159 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals in Khulna division, 117 in Barisal, 100 in Chittagong, 79 in Mymensingh and 71 in Rajshahi.
New records for patient admissions and rising deaths in a single day have raised fresh concerns about the dengue situation in the country.
