The Kakaroch Janata Party (CJP) has given a 24-hour ultimatum to the Modi government demanding the resignation or removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over questioning and irregularities in the medical admission test in India.
The announcement was made by the leaders of the organisation after a nearly two-hour meeting with the central government representatives at the Constitution Club of India in Delhi on Friday (July 24th). They said that if the demand is not implemented within the stipulated time, a larger programme will be given than the movement on July 20th.
Union Health Minister J. attended the meeting on behalf of the government. P. Nadda and Union Minister Jitendra Singh. On the other hand, the CJP was represented by the organisation’s national spokesperson Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.
At the meeting, the protesters raised three main demands. These are — to force Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to be removed or resign immediately, compensate the families of the students who lost their lives in question and irregularities, and to withdraw all the cases filed against the protesting students.
The government has given its policy approval to the CJP’s claims, the second and third demands. However, the central government has asked for time till noon on Saturday (July 25th) to decide on the resignation of the education minister.
The next meeting between the two sides is scheduled to take place at 3pm on Saturday. However, the CJP said that if the education minister’s resignation is not confirmed, there will be no further discussion on the long-term reforms of the education system.
