Meanwhile, Speaker of the National Assembly Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, who is in Thailand for treatment, returned home two days before the scheduled time. According to the constitution, the resignation letter of the President must be submitted to the Speaker. As a result, his return to the next country has further provoked the ongoing speculation in the political arena.
Responding to a question from reporters at Dhaka, the speaker said he had no information about the president’s possible resignation as he was out of the country for a week.
“I’ve heard it as you’ve heard. Now I will know things back home.”
Several officials of Bangabhaban said the president has decided to resign and the resignation letter has also been prepared. However, they claimed that the process of submitting the submission of the speaker as it was abroad.
Another official of Bangabhaban claimed that the President had recently asked the concerned authorities to resign and prepare to leave Bangabhaban by this month.
However, no official statement has been made by the government so far.
According to the constitution, the Speaker of the National Assembly shall serve as the Acting President until the new President is elected. The National Assembly will elect a new president within ninety days.
