The movement of the ‘Tourist Express’ train to Cox’s Bazar has been temporarily suspended due to heavy rains and waterlogging in Chittagong.
The train was stopped on Tuesday (July 7th) for the safety of the passengers when the situation in the 16th city station area was created.
According to railway sources, water came up on the railway line as the train crossed the sixteenth city station around noon on Tuesday. The driver immediately stopped the train as there was a possibility of a mechanical failure or accident by entering the engine. The train has since been stuck in the area.
Railway officials said that the train services have been suspended with the highest priority for the safety of passengers. The situation is being closely monitored and further action will be taken as per the instructions of the Railway Control Room.
An alternative measure to reduce the suffering of the passengers is being prepared to bring the train back and take it back to Chittagong station. After that, if the situation is normal, a new journey will be decided.
The passengers of Cox’s Bazar have been suffering a lot as the train stopped suddenly. There has been concern among women, children and elderly passengers. However, the railway authorities said that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure that the situation is being normalized and the passengers are being taken to the destination safely.
