Ekushey Padak-winning poet, renowned researcher and renowned literary activist Al Mujahidee is no more. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital on Friday afternoon.
His death has cast a shadow of deep mourning on the cultural and literary landscape of the country.
This voice of Bengali poetry of the sixties was born on January 1, 1943. In his writings, Bangladesh’s soil and people, history, tradition, nature and human love have been a unique bond of love. In his long literary career, he has also credited Bengali literature not only in poetry, but also stories, novels, plays and essayists. More than half of his published books.
He played an important role in journalism and editing. For a long time, he has served as the literary editor of one of the country’s top daily ‘Ittefaq’. During this time, he made a unique contribution to the creation of young writers.
In 2003, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the Ekushey Medal, the country’s second highest civilian honour, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Bengali language and literature.

This death of the poet Al Mujahid is an irreparable loss to the practice of Bengali literature.
