Iran’s Remembrance Committee has announced the possible schedule of funerals and burials of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to the committee, his funeral and burial will be completed on the first ten days of the holy month of Muharram and after the end of the mourning ceremony of Ashura.
In a statement, Iran’s semi-official media, Meher News, said extensive preparations were underway to hold Khamenei’s memorial, funeral and burial ceremony in a proper manner. At the same time, the committee has issued warnings about the schedules published in various media and non-verified information related to the program.
“The false and unconfirmed information is causing confusion among the bereaved people and those who wish to participate in the event. There is no official basis for such information.
The committee also said that Imam Hussein (a.s.) Considering Khamenei’s long-standing tribute and commitment to the condolence of Ashura, his funeral and burial will be held at the end of the first ten days of Muharram. The final schedule and other official information of the event will be released later.
Iranian state media later confirmed that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint attack by the United States and Israel on February 28. Senior military personnel and civilians were also killed in the attack.
