Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that it is possible to turn every village of the country into a center of socio-economic development with the participation of members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force (Ansar-VDP).
He said that six lakh members of the force will play an important role in building a discrimination-free, just and safe society.
The prime minister said this in a statement sent to the media on Tuesday (May 19th). He made the statement on the occasion of the 46th National Assembly-2026 of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Forces to be held on Wednesday (May 20th).
The Prime Minister said the Ansar-VDP members have been playing a responsible role in any crisis and critical time of the country. The contribution of the members of the forces to ensure the smooth, fair and peaceful conduct of the 13th parliamentary elections was commendable.
He conveyed his best wishes to the officers and grassroots members of the army and the grassroots level members and paid rich tributes to the 670 martyrs of the Ansar force who sacrificed their lives in the Great Liberation War.
Tarique Rahman said Bangladesh is now moving forward in a democratic way, overcoming the long-standing political crisis and the challenge of governance. Ansar-VDP is an important support force to build a human, self-reliant and safe state.
He added that it is possible to use the broad network of Ansar-VDP in ensuring social security in villages and cities, disaster management, rehabilitation, tree plantation, canal mining and food security activities more effectively.
The prime minister said more than 52 thousand Ansar members are currently serving in the country’s industries, hospitals, banks and other important establishments to ensure the safety of the country’s industries, hospitals, banks and other important establishments.
He also appreciated the training activities of Ansar-VDP to make the youth a skilled and self-reliant population. In his words, the force is playing an effective role in making young entrepreneurs through demand-based training and employment-oriented initiatives.
He hoped that Ansar-VDP would also play an important role in building a productive and inclusive society by involving the common people.
