Iran claims the United States is looking for an “honourable path” to leave the war in the wake of ongoing tensions. Tehran has made the demand before the start of a possible second round of peace talks between the U.S. and Iran.
The statement was made in a statement issued by Iran’s Defense Ministry on Saturday. A ministry spokesman said Iran’s military capabilities have now reached a level where the opposition is under pressure on the battlefield to find a way out of dignity.
Meanwhile, the second round of talks between the United States and Iran is scheduled to begin in Islamabad, Pakistan. The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi’s delegation has already arrived in Islamabad to take part in the talks.
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump’s representative Steve Wytkoff and Jared Kushner are scheduled to visit Islamabad.
However, Iran’s state media reported that the possibility of direct talks between the two sides was limited. There is also uncertainty about whether there will be any formal talks on Saturday.
The U.S. delegation will arrive in Islamabad in due course. However, Tehran says the visit of the Iranian foreign minister is mainly part of a trilateral diplomatic visit, and that is not for direct bilateral talks with the United States.
According to analysts, although there are differences between the two sides on the issue of formalities, participation and direct dialogue, diplomatic contacts continue, which can play an important role in defuse tensions.
