The measles outbreak remains alarming across the country. One child has died of measles and three more have developed symptoms of measles in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths since March 15 to 36, while the number of symptomatic deaths has reached 181.
According to the latest data from the Directorate General of Health Services , 165 new cases of measles have been detected in children in the past 12 hours. At the same time, 804 children have been admitted to hospitals with measles symptoms, raising fresh concerns about the spread of the infection.
Statistics show that the majority of the infected are from Dhaka division. Of the patients identified in the last 24 hours, 148 are residents of this division. Similarly, out of the 804 children admitted to the hospital, 563 are from Dhaka division, indicating a high level of infection in the capital and surrounding areas.
Health authorities said a total of 1,197 children have shown symptoms of measles in the past 12 hours. A large number of them have returned home after treatment, but the situation is not yet fully under control. In the last 24 hours, 645 children have been discharged from hospitals, of which 300 are from Dhaka division.
Public health experts say the situation could worsen if vaccination programs are not strengthened and rapid identification and treatment are not ensured. They are emphasizing increasing awareness and preventive measures, especially in densely populated areas.
