Iran has suffered huge economic and military losses after a six-week-long conflict with Israel and the United States.
According to the Israeli daily Jerusalem Post, Iran’s losses as a result of the war amounted to an estimated $145 billion, which is equivalent to about $18 million in Bangladeshi currency.
In addition to financial losses, Iran’s military infrastructure, naval resources, ballistic missile programs and nuclear facilities have been heavily damaged. It also claimed that the country’s military capabilities were significantly weakened.
About 2,076 people were killed and 26,500 injured in the fighting, the report said. A large part of the missile and drone manufacturing plants and the shipbuilding infrastructure were also destroyed. The effectiveness of various arsenals and launcher installations has also been severely damaged.
According to the report, the country’s nuclear program has been delayed by eight to fifteen years in attacks on key nuclear facilities, including Iran’s Natanz, Yazd and Arak.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society said the war had damaged more than one million civilian facilities across the country. The head of the organization, Pirhosein Collivand, said in a speech broadcast on state television that about one lakh residential buildings were among the damaged structures, part of which was completely destroyed.
Twenty-three thousand commercial establishments have been damaged, while hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and emergency medical centres, and 399 healthcare institutions have been affected.
He also highlighted the damage in the education sector, he said, “875 schools and educational institutions and thirty-two universities were affected by the attack. At least twenty offices, warehouses and branches of the Red Crescent were also targeted.
