The number of deaths of children with measles is increasing in the country. According to the latest bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), six more children have died of measles in the last 24 hours on Thursday morning, while another child has died of measles.
The number of children who died of measles has risen to 143 since March 15. Twenty-three people have died of natural measles.
According to the bulletin, 642 new cases of measles have been reported in the last 24 hours, the highest number of cases in a single day in a week. At that time, 1,187 children were admitted to the hospital, of which 674 were admitted for treatment.
The highest number of deaths in Dhaka was given to 10 children, five in Barisal, three in Chittagong and Rajshahi, and two in Mymensingh. A maximum of 64 children have died of measles in Rajshahi division so far, 58 in Dhaka.
From March 15, 8,251 children have been hospitalized, of whom 5,801 have been discharged from the hospital after treatment. Health experts have warned that the crisis could deepen without speedy treatment and warning.
