They were brought to the tribunal in a prison van from the jail on Thursday morning. A three-member bench led by Tribunal-2 Chairman Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury will announce the verdict in the case.
The accused presented are Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Amir Hossain, former proctor of the university Shariful Islam, constables Sujan Chandra Roy and Imran Chowdhury, Rafiul Hasan Russell and Anwar Parvez.
After the investigation, the report was submitted on June 24, 2025. Later, when the prosecution submitted the charge sheet, the tribunal issued arrest warrants against 30 accused. After the hearing, the trial began with the framing of formal charges on August 6 last year.
A total of 25 witnesses testified in the case, including the deceased’s father Mukul Hossain, who was the first to testify. After lengthy testimony, arguments were concluded in January and the case was later kept pending for verdict.
According to legal experts, this verdict is not just a murder trial, but can be considered an important milestone in the post-uprising justice process.
