The outbreak of measles continues in the country. Ninety-four children have died of measles in just nine days, which has been a major concern for health officials.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 947 children have been admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours with symptoms of measles. Three children were killed. Forty-two of the children treated in the hospital have been diagnosed with measles.
According to the Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 5 thousand 792 children from March 15 to April 1 have been treated at the hospital with symptoms of measles. In the last one day, three thousand 776 people were admitted, and 2 thousand 527 children have recovered and returned home.
In the revised report, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has excluded five deaths from the previously confirmed death toll. The death data from Brahmanbaria (3), Lakshmipur (1) and Chandpur (1) was not included in the national report due to misinformation at the district level.
Meanwhile, another child’s death has been confirmed at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the capital, which has been added to the latest report.
Experts say a rapid response is needed to prevent the rapid spread of measles. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), temperature and cleanliness control are being taken with the activities of the affected areas.
