Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is healthy and safe, a close aide has confirmed.
Speaking to the Anadolu news agency on Sunday, the aide said that the news of Ahmadinejad’s death that had been spread after the recent attacks was not true.
Following the US and Israeli surprise attacks across Iran on Saturday, reports of widespread casualties among the country’s top leadership emerged. In that context, claims were also spread by various sources that Ahmadinejad had been killed. However, his adviser said that he was in regular contact and that the former president was completely safe.
According to the aide, the attack damaged a building used for Ahmadinejad’s security and killed three members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stationed there . However, Ahmadinejad’s own residence, which is about 100 meters away from the building, was not targeted and remained unharmed.
