President Mohammad Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid their deepest respects to the soldiers killed in the barbaric massacre in Peelkhana on National Martyrs’ Day .
At around 10 am, wreaths were laid at the memorial of the brave martyrs at the Banani Military Cemetery in the capital as per state protocol . First, the President paid tribute, followed by the Prime Minister. Both stood in silence for a while to pay their respects to the martyrs.
A smart contingent of the armed forces provided a guard of honor in military style; the atmosphere became heavy with the mournful tune of bugles. Later, special prayers were held for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs.
