The mother of Jugantor’s assistant editor and writer Ismail Hossain (Shuchi Syed), retired nursing superintendent of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital Halima Khatun (76), passed away on Sunday morning (Innalillahi Rajiun). She lived in Rajshahi due to work. When she suddenly fell ill in the morning, she was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. She died there while undergoing treatment. Shuchi Syed is her only son. Her body was brought to Piarakhali village in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Sunday afternoon. After Maghrib prayers, the deceased was buried at Piarakhali Eidgah ground after the funeral prayer at Piarakhali graveyard. Various quarters including Pabna Press Club President Akhtaruzzaman Akhtar, General Secretary Zahurul Islam, former president and educationist Professor Shibjit Nag expressed grief over the death of journalist Shuchi Syed’s mother.
