High Court Justice Naima Haider resigns due to personal reasons

    • Justice Naima Haider of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court has resigned citing personal reasons. Supreme Court Public Relations Officer Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter on Monday.

    He said that on February 5, Justice Naima Haider submitted her resignation to the Registrar General to be sent to the President through the Chief Justice. She cited personal reasons in the resignation letter.

    He was one of 12 High Court judges removed from judicial functions in the context of the demands of the anti-discrimination movement after the July mass uprising.

    Naima Haider, daughter of former Chief Justice Badrul Haider Chowdhury, obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in law from Dhaka University. Later, she completed her LLM and PhD from Columbia University in the United States. She also pursued higher education at various international institutions including Oxford University, University of California-Berkeley, and the University of London.
