Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has completely banned the use of fireworks, crackers, lanterns and gas balloons in the Dhaka Metropolitan Area to celebrate the holy Shab-e-Barat peacefully and with religious solemnity.
A public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on Tuesday said that the decision has been taken by exercising the powers of the DMP Ordinance-1976 to maintain the law and order situation and maintain the sanctity of Shab-e-Barat.
According to the notification, all types of fireworks and firecrackers, flying lanterns and gas balloons, as well as the purchase, sale, transportation and use of explosives will be prohibited in the capital from 6 pm on February 3 to 6 am on February 4. Police said that legal action will be taken if the instructions are violated.
