The International Cricket Council (ICC) has been embroiled in a new dispute with players as criticism over the Bangladesh issue continues.
The World Cricketers’ Association (WCA) has raised objections to the ICC over the terms of using players’ names, photos and identities ahead of the start of the T20 World Cup.
The WCA alleges that the ‘Squad Participation Terms’ sent by the ICC for the World Cup are inconsistent with the agreement signed between the two parties in 2024 and are exploitative for the players. Although the ICC says that the previous agreement does not apply to all teams, the WCA claims that the agreement guarantees the protection of the rights of all players.
The new terms have raised serious concerns over players’ commercial rights, media appearances, biometric data and licensing issues, putting the ICC under new pressure ahead of the World Cup.
