A massive fire broke out in a warehouse of a five-storey residential building in the capital’s Banani Chairman Bari area on Friday evening. The fire broke out in a cork sheet and hardboard warehouse on the fifth floor of the building at around 7:15 pm.
Upon receiving the information, four units from Kurmitola and Baridhara fire stations rushed to the spot and started work to control the fire. The flames and thick smoke spread panic among the residents of the building and the surrounding area, and many people quickly left the building.
No casualties have been reported so far. However, the fire service is checking to see if anyone is trapped inside. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage will be known after the investigation, authorities said.
