Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that the youth who led the July Movement will play an important role in global leadership in the future. He made the remarks at the inauguration of the ‘Digital Device and Innovation Expo-2026’ at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in the capital on Wednesday.
Dr. Yunus said that just as the July Movement opened the door to new possibilities in the country’s politics, this Expo will create new horizons in the information technology sector. He said that the July Movement protests against the internet shutdown paved the way for the fall of a powerful government.
Referring to the digital sector as the main driving force of the present times, he said, “From here, changes will come in other sectors of society and the state.” Stating that the digitalization of citizen services has not yet been fully implemented, the Chief Advisor said, “The government will only create a system, and the people will decide how it will be used.”
Citing the example of the education situation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, he said that although there is a teacher shortage in many areas, internet connectivity can create an alternative path to education.
Regarding government administration, Dr. Yunus said that an official should not stay in the same government job for more than five years. This stagnates thinking and reduces creativity. He commented that institutions also need to be reorganized periodically to keep up with the times.
