BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman took to the stage for the first time as part of the election campaign in Mymensingh division. At the rally organized at the Mymensingh District Circuit House ground on Tuesday afternoon, he called on party leaders and activists to forget their differences and work together in unity.
This was his third rally outside Dhaka on the fifth day of his election campaign. He took to the stage at 4:03 pm, a little after the scheduled time. Earlier, he exchanged greetings with the family members of those injured and martyred in the July Movement near the rally venue.
Local leaders and activists welcomed him with slogans and flowers as he took the stage. BNP candidates from 24 parliamentary constituencies of Mymensingh division spoke at the rally and emphasized on building unity in the election fight by forgetting party divisions. The speakers expressed their hope of victory in the upcoming elections by seeking support for the paddy sheaf symbol.
Many leaders and activists present at the rally said that they were moved by the memories of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia’s participation in a public rally in the past at the same ground. A clear enthusiasm can be seen among BNP leaders and activists in Mymensingh around the big political rally after a long time.
