After the upcoming parliamentary elections and referendum, the interim government’s chief advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will hand over power to the winning political party. In response to various questions in the public mind about what he will do next, Dr. Yunus has revealed his future plans.
After the election, he said he will continue working on three main issues: developing digital healthcare, creating programs to create young entrepreneurs, and continuing the ‘Three Zeros’ initiative.
Dr. Yunus announced these plans during a meeting with Akiye Abe, wife of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, at the state guest house Jamuna on Sunday. After the meeting, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar confirmed the matter at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy.
He said that through digital healthcare, Dr. Yunus wants to increase access to healthcare for the country’s vulnerable population, especially women, and create opportunities for expatriate Bangladeshis to keep track of their families’ health. He also said that he would expand the initiative to create young entrepreneurs.
The chief advisor also announced his visit to Japan in the third week of March after the election at the invitation of the Sasakawa Foundation. There, he will discuss marine research and increasing cooperation with Bangladesh in this sector.
