Additional metro rail services will be operational in the capital on Wednesday (December 31) to mark the funeral of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) said in a statement on Tuesday that special metro trains will be operated in addition to the regular schedule to ensure the convenience of passengers attending the funeral.
It is worth noting that Khaleda Zia’s funeral will be held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban grounds and Manik Mia Avenue on Wednesday at 2 pm. Later, she will be buried with state honors next to the grave of martyred President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at around 3:30 pm.
The government has declared three days of national mourning following the death of Khaleda Zia. On this occasion, there will be a general holiday across the country on Wednesday, the day of the funeral.
