Dhaka BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will receive his National Identity Card (NID) within 7 to 24 hours after submitting his biometric information, the Election Commission has said. Director General of the National Identity Registration Division SM Humayun Kabir gave this information at a press conference organized at the commission around 10:30 am on Saturday.
He said that after collecting fingerprints and other biometric information, it will be possible to provide NID within a minimum of 7-8 hours and a maximum of 24 hours. “All preparations of the Election Commission are complete,” he said, adding that the designated room has also been prepared.
Election Commission sources said that Tarique Rahman will apply for NID registration along with being included in the voter list today. His daughter Jaima Rahman will also apply for NID registration with him.
Earlier on Saturday, around 11:30 am, Tarique Rahman visited the grave of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Manch.
