Dhaka — Md. Rashed Khan has resigned from the post of General Secretary of the People’s Rights Council and joined the BNP. He formally joined the party by presenting flowers to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at a ceremony organized at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Saturday (December 27).
At the event, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that Rashed Khan will contest as the BNP candidate from Jhenaidah-4 (part of Kaliganj and Jhenaidah Sadar Upazilas) constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election under the symbol of a sheaf of rice. He called on the party leaders and activists to work unitedly for him.
Meanwhile, the People’s Rights Council said that as part of the party’s decision and election strategy, Rashed Khan has been approved to join the BNP and participate in the elections. He will contest as a BNP candidate in the Jhenaidah-4 constituency.
Gana Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur told the media on Friday night that various parties have worked together as part of a simultaneous movement to overthrow fascism. In that vein, they are participating in the elections in a coordinated manner with the aim of reforming the state and forming a new Bangladesh and will play a role in forming the national government in the future.
