After visiting the grave of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman left for the National Memorial in Savar. The vehicle carrying him was moving towards the memorial along Gabtoli Road on Friday afternoon.
However, since it was not possible to reach the memorial before sunset, senior BNP leaders paid tribute there on behalf of Tarique Rahman. At 5:06 pm, a wreath-laying ceremony was held under the leadership of party standing committee member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan to pay tribute to the martyrs of the great liberation war.
The group that paid tribute included standing committee members Gayeshwar Roy, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, members of the Chairperson’s Advisory Council Amanullah Aman and Lutfuzzaman Babar. Several leaders from the party’s central and Dhaka district levels were present at the time.
The BNP media cell said that the decision was taken as it is necessary to arrive before sunset as per the rules for paying homage at the memorial.
