Dhaka — Inqilab Manch has announced to continue its sit-in protest by blocking Shahbagh intersection to demand justice for the murder of martyr Osman Hadi. The leaders of the organization say they will not withdraw the protest until the government’s advisors arrive at the scene and give their answers to the people.
On Friday (December 26), after Friday prayers, leaders and activists of the Inqilab Mancha, students and ordinary people gathered at Shahbagh with a protest procession from the central mosque of Dhaka University. Later, traffic was stopped on the surrounding roads.
Speaking at the blockade site, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of the Inqilab Manch, said, “We will not move from here until the advisors of this government come to Shahbagh and stand before the people.” He also spoke of sacrificing his life if necessary.
Jaber claimed that there is an attempt to evade responsibility for the killing of martyr Hadi and that the protesters are being ignored. In his words, “This soil is soaked in Hadi’s blood. We will not leave the streets until justice is done.”
He also said that true freedom will not be established unless the right to live with dignity and the free movement of women are ensured.
The blockade and sit-in program in Shahbagh continued until the time of writing the report.
