The plane carrying BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11:40 am on Thursday (December 25).
Earlier, the plane landed at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet at 9:55 am and departed for Dhaka about an hour later.
The flight departed from London for Dhaka at around 12:15 am on Wednesday. Tarique Rahman is accompanied by his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman. About 50 BNP leaders and activists returned to Bangladesh on the same flight.
Special security measures have been taken at the airport for Tarique Rahman, who returned home after 17 years. The bulletproof vehicle designated for him arrived there before 7 am.
According to BNP sources, after a brief stay at the airport’s VIP lounge ‘Rajnigandha’, he will travel by road to the reception stage built in a 300-foot area, where he is scheduled to deliver a short speech. After that, he will go to Evercare Hospital to meet BNP Chairperson and her mother Khaleda Zia. From there, he is scheduled to go to Gulshan residence ‘Firoza’.
Tarique Rahman arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport at 10:15 pm Bangladesh time on Wednesday (December 24). Leaders and activists of the UK BNP were present with him at that time.
