A case has been filed in connection with the attack, vandalism, arson and looting of the Chhayanot Bhaban, a cultural organization in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. Police have named 300 to 350 unidentified individuals as accused in the case, police said.
On Sunday (December 21) morning, Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam said that Chhayanaut’s chief manager Dulal Ghosh filed the case with the police station on Saturday night.
According to the Chhayanaut authorities, miscreants entered the building at night after news of the death of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi spread, vandalized CCTV cameras, furniture, and various musical instruments, and set fire to several rooms. The extent of the damage has not yet been assessed.
After the incident, Cultural Affairs Advisor Mustafa Sarwar Faruqi visited Chhayanaut. He reviewed the CCTV footage and assured that those responsible would be brought to justice quickly.
Earlier that night, several media offices in the capital were also attacked and vandalized.
