Bangladesh High Commissioner to New Delhi Riaz Hamidullah has been accused of threatening behavior. The incident took place in front of the main gate of the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi on Saturday (December 20) night.
Bangladesh High Commission Press Minister Md. Faisal Mahmud said that between 8:30 pm and 9:45 pm, some people in three cars came and stood at the gate of the High Commission and shouted in a mixture of Bengali and Hindi. They demanded security for Hindus and made inflammatory speeches targeting the High Commissioner. After a while, they left from there.
He said the speech was believed to contain language suggestive of murder, although they did not engage in any vandalism or violence.
Immediately after the incident, the High Commissioner held an emergency meeting with the officials of the mission’s defense wing. Defense wing sources said that the situation was being monitored and the relevant authorities were informed about the incident.
