The BNP has requested special trains and additional coach reservations on seven routes to facilitate the travel of leaders and activists across the country to Dhaka, focusing on the upcoming return of acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
In a letter sent to the Railway Ministry on Thursday, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that Tarique Rahman is returning home from the UK on December 25. To welcome him, a request has been made to run special trains or additional coaches on the Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Jamalpur-Mymensingh, Tangail, Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi, Panchagarh-Nilphamari-Parbatipur and Kurigram-Rangpur routes on the night of December 24. It was also mentioned that the fixed fare will be paid as per the government policy.
Earlier, Tarique Rahman himself announced the date of his return to the country at a Victory Day ceremony in London. BNP leaders say this return is being seen as an important turning point in party politics.
