Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, has expressed deep concern over the shooting of independent candidate and Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi during an election campaign in the capital’s Bijaynagar. Following the attack, he strongly instructed the security forces to launch an immediate investigation and identify and arrest the accused.
Hadi was shot at by two gunmen on a motorcycle in the Calvert area of Vijayanagar on Friday afternoon, his colleagues said. He was taken to DMCH Hospital in a critical condition at 2:35 pm. According to doctors, he was shot in the head and is currently in a coma.
The chief advisor immediately directed the Ministry of Health to ensure medical treatment. At the same time, instructions have been given to collect evidence from the scene, take statements from witnesses, and analyze CCTV footage.
Professor Yunus said, “Such violence is unacceptable in an electoral environment. No soft stance will be taken to ensure the safety of candidates and citizens.” He called on all political parties to maintain restraint and peace so that the elections can be held peacefully.
Hadi had previously claimed to have received death threats from various foreign numbers. His colleagues said he urgently needed B-negative blood.
