The fire service has finally rescued Sajid, a child who fell into a deep tube well in Tanore, Rajshahi. He was rescued after several hours of efforts on Thursday evening and was rushed to the hospital, confirmed Rajshahi Fire Service Assistant Director Manjur Haque.
The incident took place on Wednesday around 1:30 pm in Koelhat village of Panchandar union in Tanor upazila. The mouth of the tube well, which had been lying unused for a long time, was open. The child, identified as Md. Swadhin, son of local resident Rakib, fell into it while playing. The owner of the tube well is Taher of the same village.
After the villagers’ anxiety and long wait, the child’s rescue brought relief to the entire area. The fire service says that leaving such risky establishments open without care can be a serious danger – this incident once again made that warning clear.
