The decision to take BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad is being delayed mainly due to her physical condition, said her personal physician and BNP standing committee member Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.
In a briefing on Saturday, he said that although the air ambulance is ready around the clock, the medical board has not yet given permission to fly.
Dr. Zahid said, Khaleda Zia’s health will determine when she will be taken abroad. Ensuring the highest standards of treatment and safety is the priority now. Tarique Rahman is also monitoring the treatment process around the clock and giving importance to the board’s decision, he said. Dr. Zubaida Rahman is also involved in the medical coordination.
He urged people not to spread rumors on social media, saying the medical board is assessing the situation daily and is optimistic. The Qatari government and the interim government are providing support.
Khaleda Zia, who has been admitted to the capital’s Evercare Hospital for 13 days, underwent an endoscopy on Friday due to stomach complications. Although there was bleeding initially, it was later brought under control. A medical board comprising local and foreign experts is supervising her treatment.
