Security around BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Evercare Hospital in the capital has been significantly beefed up since she was admitted for treatment. Police presence in the area was strengthened by erecting barricades on both sides of the main gate since late Monday night.
Police personnel were also seen on Tuesday morning to control the unauthorized crowd. According to the hospital authorities, this measure was taken to ensure the smooth movement of patients and relatives and to ensure the safety of Khaleda Zia.
Police said barricades were set up around 2 a.m. and strict instructions have been implemented to prevent gatherings in front of the hospital since then.
Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and party doctor AZM Zahid Hossain visited the hospital late on Monday night to inquire about Khaleda Zia’s latest health condition. They left the hospital without making any official comment after discussing with the medical team.
No new official statement has been made yet about Khaleda Zia’s physical condition.
