A fire broke out on the ninth floor of the Ministry of Public Administration building in the capital’s Secretariat on Sunday afternoon. The situation was brought under control with the quick intervention of the fire service.
The fire service received a report of the fire at around 2 pm. Five units quickly reached the spot and doused the fire. Fire Service Duty Officer Lima Khanam said the fire started in an exhaust fan outside the building due to an electrical fault.
The fire was brought under control with fire extinguishers. However, no casualties were reported. An investigation is now underway into the effectiveness of the building’s security system.
