The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for individual taxpayers to file income tax returns for the 2025–26 tax year by one month, setting the new deadline for 31 December. The NBR announced the decision in a circular issued on Sunday (23 November).
According to the NBR, through a special order issued Sunday, the deadline for return submission for individual taxpayers—excluding companies—for the fiscal year 2025–26 has been extended to 31 December.
The circular further states that if any taxpayer faces difficulties filing returns online due to issues with e-return system registration, they may apply to the concerned deputy tax commissioner by 15 December, providing specific and valid reasons.
This year, online tax return filing has been made mandatory for all individual taxpayers except the following categories:
Senior taxpayers aged 65 or above Physically disabled or persons with special needs Bangladeshi taxpayers residing abroad Legal representatives filing returns on behalf of deceased taxpayers Foreign nationals working in Bangladesh
