Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has said that women make up 50 percent of the country’s population, and it would be a mistake to think about national development while excluding them. Therefore, women must be built up with proper skills.
“We want women’s leadership and empowerment in various sectors. Women will further strengthen their position in different areas and continue to contribute to nation-building,” he said.
The Army Chief made these remarks on Friday while addressing the second day of the three-day grand reunion of former cadets of Joypurhat Girls’ Cadet College, where he attended as the chief guest.
The information was given in a press release sent by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the release, the Army Chief was welcomed at the college by the President of the Cadet College Governing Council and Adjutant General of the Bangladesh Army, the GOC of the 11th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Bogura Area, the college principal, the president of the Association of Joypurhat Ex-Cadets (AJEC), and other invited guests.
Later, the chief guest inaugurated the reunion program and received the salute at the reunion parade. He also delivered a valuable speech to the participating current and former cadets.
In his speech, he wished continued success and prosperity for the cadets and urged them to dedicate themselves to serving the country.
The chief guest then joined invited guests and cadets for a lunch.
The three-day reunion of former cadets began yesterday, Thursday (13 November).
