Police have detained seven suspects after conducting a raid at the residence of former Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel in Chashmahill, Chattogram. The operation took place on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Mohammad Solaiman, Officer-in-Charge of Panchlaish Police Station, a report circulated on social media claiming that Awami League activists were gathering at Nowfel’s residence ahead of the party’s scheduled program on November 13. Acting on this information, police raided the house and detained seven individuals for questioning. The detainees claimed to be employees of a restaurant, but police are investigating whether they have any links to banned organizations.
During the raid, no family members of the former education minister were present at the house. Police also seized the building’s CCTV DVR box for further examination. In light of potential unrest, security measures have been tightened across Chattogram and other districts, with additional checkpoints and police patrols deployed at key locations to maintain law and order.
