Following the ban on the Awami League’s ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ program, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has instructed all airports across the country to implement special security measures. The directive was sent from CAAB headquarters to all airports on Tuesday, November 11.
The circular states that 24-hour monitoring through CCTV cameras, increased patrolling in airport areas, and enhanced monitoring systems must be ensured. Necessary preparations must also be in place to handle any potential untoward incidents. Additionally, the deployment of the maximum number of security personnel and strengthening of fire surveillance operations have been ordered.
CAAB Assistant Director (Public Relations) Muhammad Kausar Mahmud told reporters that ensuring passenger safety is the highest priority. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and work in coordination with the relevant security agencies.
It is notable that despite the ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ program scheduled for November 13 being banned, tensions have already arisen over the past two days. Law enforcement agencies have taken extensive precautions in response to incidents of vehicle arson and cocktail explosions.
