The government has extended the special executive magistracy powers of commissioned officers of the Bangladesh Armed Forces—holding the rank of Captain and above (including officers of equivalent rank serving on deputation in the Coast Guard and Border Guard Bangladesh)—for another four and a half months.
A gazette notification regarding the extension was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday (November 11).
According to the new directive, from November 12, 2025, until February 28, 2026, these officers will be able to exercise the powers of special executive magistrates across the country.
Earlier, on September 17, 2024, the government initially granted members of the armed forces deployed nationwide executive magistracy powers for two months. The duration has since been extended several times.
